How Do I Know My Face Shape?
In professional visagism, we analyze 4 key aspects to determine face shape. You can do this analysis at home:
Check the overall proportion
Look straight into a mirror. Does your face look longer than it is wide, wider than it is long, or are the proportions balanced? That already narrows it down by half.
Look at your jawline
The jawline is what sets many shapes apart. Is it angular and defined (square/diamond), soft and rounded (oval/round), or does it taper toward the chin (heart)?
Compare forehead and jaw
Is your forehead wider than your jaw? You probably have a heart-shaped face. Are they similar? Could be oval, square or oblong. Jaw wider? Leans square.
Assess your cheekbones
If your cheekbones are the widest part of your face (wider than forehead and jaw), you have a diamond shape. If they're prominent but not the widest part, it may point to oval or heart.
💡 Pro tip: If you find it hard to analyze yourself (that's normal!), our test asks these questions more objectively. We also offer a professional consultation with specialized consultants.
Why Does Face Shape Matter?
In visagism, understanding your face shape is the first step toward choices that truly flatter your look — not just following trends.
Haircuts
The right cut can elongate, soften or balance your face. The wrong one can highlight exactly what you want to downplay.
Makeup
Contouring, highlighter and blush work differently on each face shape. Knowing yours avoids common mistakes.
Accessories
Glasses, earrings and even necklines interact with your face shape. Harmony is the key.
